Christine > Day 89: Ken at the Beach
March 30, 2009
It was FREEZING at the beach and the sun was about a second from setting- towards the horizon it was a nice pink but it didn't show up in the photograph. I just snapped about 5 images than ran back to the car and waited for Ken to come back and take me home to the warm house. I was working with photoshop and some online tutorials and this is the crummy image I ended up with. I figured it would be better to post a lousey image than to skip the day so this is it. I'm disappointed but not deterred from working on photoshop further. Every dog has his day, right? This is most definitely a miss.
Christine > Day 155:  9 Year Anniversary
June 4, 2009 (my actual anniversary is June 3rd but I shoot the day before I post)
I can't believe it's been nine years since Ken and I were married.  Time flies.  Most normal people go out for a romantic dinner complete with lobster and champagne.  What did Ken and I do?  We went out to our local Italian restaurant/pizzaria and had linguini with white clam sauce and then went to the movies to see a horror flick (Drag Me To Hell).  That's how we roll.  I was going to post a shot of Ken and I holding hands in the restaurant but opted for this seedy looking shot of Ken all alone in the theater.  We were the only people watching the film lol.  The others are in my alternate gallery which
you can see by clicking here.

Christine > Day 162: My New Beach House
June 11, 2009
Too bad the actual owners don't know I'll be moving in and calling their Southampton beach house my own. I love the beaches in Southampton. Not sure if it is still in effect for this season, but for several years owners of beach houses were not allowed to walk on the beach due to the Piping Plovers. At one point they were near extinction and people walking on their beach would affect their survival and or reproduction. The locals were so ticked about it, having paid literally millions for a beach house, that they put bumper stickers on their B'mers that read: PIPING PLOVER TASTES LIKE CHICKEN. I'll take the house regardless of the Piping Plovers. :) I have a couple more views in my alternate gallery if you're interested. alternate gallery.
Christine > Day 160: Duck
June 9, 2009
It never ceases to amaze me that every time I feel like I'm losing my motivation, inspiration and subject matter to shoot, I come across something worthy of photographing. I found this duck and her mate swimming in the bay on the way home from work and actually got a bunch of shots.
Christine > Day 123: Shadow
May 3, 2009
Our first stop on the road trip was at the home of an old friend of Ken's, John and his wife Wendi. I have only met them once before about 2 years ago and instantly loved them. They have three beautiful dogs: Shadow (pictured here), Gus and Rosa. I really wanted to post a picture of Gus because of his incredible story: John & Wendi own a mountain home in another state which I will not mention for reasons that will soon be apparent. They noticed an emaciated dog wandering around the area and upon a little investigation found a home that had more than one dog that was obviously starved. Used for hunting, the brilliant owners thought by keeping them hungry the hounds would be better hunters. A few of the neighbors had spoken to the owner about the conditions but he just brushed them off. Wendi basically kidnapped as many as she could and kept Gus. The others she found good homes for. Looking at Gus you'd never know he was abused and neglected. Being adopted by John and Wendi is the human equivalent to winning $40 million in the state lottery. These dogs are so incredibly loved and it's obvious when you see them all together. So as much as I wanted to post a photo of my new friend Gus, Shadow stole my heart and this photo just melted my heart. If I didn't like John & Wendi so much, I would have taken all three dogs home. :) Once I finish fine-tuning all the photos of these dogs, I will create a gallery so you can meet gus and Rosa.

PS- In light of littlebro's question - all of the neighbors had previously confronted the dog owner who shrugged them off. The authorities were called and they paid the owner a visit but said there was nothing they could do without having "seen" anything happen. I have found that some states don't have strict enough laws and penaltys with regards to animals. Pretty awful if you ask me.
Christine > Day 207: Blue Eyed Girl
July 26, 2009
Taken yesterday but processed today, this is my best friend Silvia's fourth and youngest child peeking through the window from her outdoor doll house. All of Sil's children are beautiful and Anneleise is no exception. Do you sense a bit of mischief here? Her oldest sister is 13 and they are very close. Because of her exposure to a lot of older kids she is pretty bold and fearless. She will stick out her tongue at you unprovoked and laugh a sinister laugh. :)

This was my first real attempt at selective coloring using PS (baby steps, baby steps! Next I'll attempt the "feathering" James Hill has suggested on some of my shots). For other shots, click here to get to my alternate gallery.
